The Nike/Lacrosse Magazine National High School Top 25, Regional Top 10 and Players to Watch were released in the March edition. With several South Region teams already in competition, this is the first in-season installment of weekly reports.

1. Highland Park (Texas), 1-0: The defending state champions opened with a 15-7 win over Keller (Texas) and face another district foe in Allen on Wednesday before heading out to California. Nationally-ranked St. Ignatius Prep (Calif.) is on tap Saturday. Preseason Ranking: 1

2. St. Andrew's (Fla.), 8-0: The Scots already have wins over IMG Academy varsity (10-6) and Benjamin (13-7), the latter in which eighth-grader Gable Braun won 23 of 24 faceoffs. Unbeaten Jupiter is on the slate for Friday. Preseason Ranking: 4

3. McCallie (Tenn.), 0-0: The defending state champion Blue Tornado seem to have reloaded, but we'll find out for sure soon enough. They open against 2015 runner-up Memphis University School on Thursday. Preseason Ranking: 3

4. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.), 5-0: The 2015 state runner-up Raiders cleared one hurdle when they won a rematch of last year's final against Lake Highland Prep, edging the Highlanders 13-12 on Feb. 20. They have won 24 straight regular-season games, dating back to 2014. Preseason Ranking: 8

5. Centennial (Ga.), 1-0: Propelled by Nicky Solomon's five goals and three assists, the Knights opened with a 20-9 win over an Alpharetta (Ga.) team that was coming off a victory over defending state champion Roswell. They play three games in four days this week, including a matchup Memphis University School (Tenn.) on March 5. Preseason Ranking: 7

6. Dallas Jesuit (Texas), 6-0: The Rangers avenged their 2015 Super Regional loss to The Woodlands, this time coming out on top 9-5 on Feb. 20, and they haven't allowed more than two goals in three games since. Preseason Ranking: 10

7. Episcopal Dallas (Texas), 4-0: The Eagles survived a scare from Westlake, winning 10-9 on Adam Aronowitz's lefty dagger in overtime. Preseason Ranking: 6

8. Lambert (Ga.), 5-0: The Longhorns have outscored opponents 75-15 so far, but Allatoona gave them a game before falling, 10-8, on Feb. 27. Preseason Ranking: 9

9. Ponte Vedra (Fla.), 10-0: The Sharks are hungry after missing out on a fifth straight final four last year. They also own a win over defending champion Lake Highland, which is 4-4 now but likely will still be in the mix at the end of the season. Preseason Ranking: NR

10. IMG Academy (Fla.), 8-1: The Ascenders' only loss is to St. Andrew's (Fla.), but Vero Beach and Cardinal Mooney both came within four goals. They doubled up Lake Highland Prep, the preseason No. 2 team in the South, 14-7 on Tuesday. Preseason Ranking: NR

Gable Braun, St. Andrew's (Fla.)

The eighth-grader's dominance on the X made a big difference for the Scots in a 13-7 win over Benjamin (Fla.). He won 23 of 24 faceoffs to set the tone and help St. Andrew's apply pressure early and often against a pretty talented Bucs defense.

Also notable: Reid Smith, Ponte Vedra (Fla.); Ramsey McCreary, The Woodlands (Texas); Adam Aronowitz, Episcopal Dallas (Texas); Nicky Solomon, Centennial (Ga.)

Jared Bernhardt, Lake Brantley (Fla.), Sr., midfield (Maryland)
Nakeie Montgomery, Episcopal Dallas (Texas), Jr., midfield (Duke)
Nicky Solomon, Centennial (Ga.), So., attack (UNC)
Mick Upchurch, McCallie (Tenn.), Jr., defense (Princeton)
Jack Welding, Southlake Carroll (Texas), Sr., LSM/D (Maryland)
