WINSTON-SALEM, NC (June 12, 2013) – Champion, the official athletic apparel outfitter of the U.S. Women's National Lacrosse Team, announced today that star defender Amber Falcone will serve as a brand ambassador as she and Team USA prepare to defend their World Championship title at this July's Women's World Cup in Ontario, Canada. Falcone will appear in national advertising highlighting her favorite Champion training apparel as well as the uniform Team USA will wear during this summer's competition.

Named the top defender at the 2009 World Cup where the U.S. women took home the championship, Falcone is one of the top women's lacrosse players in the world. She also is passionate about growing the game of lacrosse and serves as an assistant coach at Furman University.

"Partnering with Champion is a natural fit for me, as they have a strong history of providing superior sports bras and performance apparel for female athletes everywhere." said Falcone. "When my teammates and I take the field this summer against the best players in the world, we'll be proud to wear the Team USA uniform designed by Champion."

Through their sponsorship of U.S. Lacrosse, Champion has played a pivotal role in helping grow the sport. Since 2006, female high school participation in the sport has grown 77 percent and is now an officially sanctioned high school sport in 22 states.[1]

"We are excited to partner with Amber and continue our support of women's lacrosse" said Cathy Marchant, Director of Champion Brand Marketing. "The competition this summer in Canada will be fierce, and Champion is proud to provide the apparel for Team USA as they look to repeat as World Champions."
