Cantele Named U.S. Developmental Coach

BALTIMORE -- The US Lacrosse Women's Division
Board of Governors voted to approve the recommendation of the U.S.
national team coach selection committee to name Carol Cantele as
the 2009-2013 U.S. women's lacrosse developmental team head
coach.
Cantele also serves as the head women's lacrosse coach at
Gettysburg College. With 17 seasons at the helm, Cantele is
Gettysburg's all-time leader in victories, compiling a career
record of 230-80 (.742). She ranks 10th all-time among all NCAA
coaches (all divisions) in career victories with a record of
254-103 (.711) over 21 seasons. Cantele, who is fifth among active
NCAA Division III head coaches in wins, has guided the Bullets to a
conference record six Centennial Conference championships (2000,
2002-06), nine appearances in the NCAA Division III playoffs (2000,
2002-09), and 13 straight winning seasons.
"I am honored and thrilled to be named as the women's
developmental coach and I look forward to joining a great
organization with a terrific staff already in place," said Cantele.
"I am grateful to the selection committee for placing their faith
in me and I am very eager to offer my enthusiasm and passion to
these talented world-class athletes. I look forward to aiding in
keeping the momentum going after an incredible run for Team USA
these past four years."
Cantele will join U.S. women's national elite team head coach,
Ricky Fried, and his coaching staff as part of the U.S. women's
national teams program.

Fried. "She brings a wealth of experience, professionalism and
perspective to the U.S. national teams program. Carol's consistent
success is only matched by her passion for the game."
The U.S. women's national teams program is coordinated by US Lacrosse, the
