from press release

Gettysburg women's lacrosse coach Carole Cantele has been tabbed to lead the U.S. Developmental team through 2013.

BALTIMORE -- The US Lacrosse Women's Division Board of Governors voted to approve the recommendation of the U.S. national team coach selection committee to name Carol Cantele as the 2009-2013 U.S. women's lacrosse developmental team head coach.

Cantele also serves as the head women's lacrosse coach at Gettysburg College. With 17 seasons at the helm, Cantele is Gettysburg's all-time leader in victories, compiling a career record of 230-80 (.742). She ranks 10th all-time among all NCAA coaches (all divisions) in career victories with a record of 254-103 (.711) over 21 seasons. Cantele, who is fifth among active NCAA Division III head coaches in wins, has guided the Bullets to a conference record six Centennial Conference championships (2000, 2002-06), nine appearances in the NCAA Division III playoffs (2000, 2002-09), and 13 straight winning seasons.

"I am honored and thrilled to be named as the women's developmental coach and I look forward to joining a great organization with a terrific staff already in place," said Cantele. "I am grateful to the selection committee for placing their faith in me and I am very eager to offer my enthusiasm and passion to these talented world-class athletes. I look forward to aiding in keeping the momentum going after an incredible run for Team USA these past four years."

Cantele will join U.S. women's national elite team head coach, Ricky Fried, and his coaching staff as part of the U.S. women's national teams program.

"I am excited to have the opportunity to work with Carol," said Fried. "She brings a wealth of experience, professionalism and perspective to the U.S. national teams program. Carol's consistent success is only matched by her passion for the game."
