McFadden Featured in Faces in the Crowd

Caitlyn McFadden, a member of the U.S. 2009 gold-medal winning World Cup team, is featured in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" section in its June 14 issue.
McFadden just finished her collegiate career at the University of Maryland by leading the Terps to their first national title since 2001 and received the Tewaaraton Trophy as the nation's top player.
McFadden joined the national teams program by making the 2007-08 U.S. women's developmental team. She was an alternate for the U.S. team that won the Prague Cup in 2008 and then made the World Cup team for 2009.
In the World Cup, McFadden had a pair of assists in the championship game against Australia, helping the U.S. to an 8-7 victory.
This past season at Maryland, McFadden had 85 points on 50 goals and 35 assists while earning first team All-America honors. In the championship game win over Northwestern, she had two goals and two assists and was named the tournament's most outstanding player. She finished her career third on Maryland's career assists list with 110 and sixth in points with 259.
McFadden's most recent competiton with the U.S. team was at the Champion Challenge in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., in January. Tryouts for the 2010-11 U.S. women's national team will be held in early August at UMBC.
