Photos: World Cup Medal Round

PRAGUE, Czech Republic -- Team USA began its journey to Prague as an untested group of World Cup rookies. They ended it as champions.

With emotions running high, the U.S. staved off a furious late rally from Australia to preserve an 8-7 victory in the gold medal game of the 2009 FIL Women's World Cup.

Team USA officially erased the bitter memory of a loss to Australia at home in the 2005 World Cup final (Annapolis, Md.), claiming its sixth title since the quadrennial event's 1982 inception, including four over Australia.
