Banner Weekend Earns Reynolds Tryout Nod
After helping the Chesapeake Bayhawks to their third Major League Lacrosse title in the past four seasons and fifth overall, Jeff Reynolds has been offered a spot at the upcoming tryouts for the U.S. National Team, which take place from Friday-Sunday at Goucher College in Baltimore, Md.
Reynolds accepted the invitation on Monday afternoon, bringing to 95 the number of players invited to participate this weekend. Sessions run Friday evening and Saturday and Sunday morning and evening, after which Team USA coach Richie Meade and his staff will convene and announce a 46-man roster that will train and participate in the Champion Challenge in Florida in early 2014.
Reynolds plays primarily as a defensive midfielder and wing specialist on face-offs for the Bayhawks, joining fellow tryout invitee Matt Abbott in that key role and helping Chesapeake take a 5-2 halftime lead in the eventual 10-9 victory. He had four ground balls in the contest.
In his career, which began with his being selected 23rd overall in the 2009 collegiate draft after his time at the University of Maryland, Reynolds has 15 goals and three assists to go with 66 GBs. While at Maryland, he had 19 goals and three assists along with 74 GBs and 22 caused turnovers.
