McGlone Leads U.S. Indoor Team to Win over Iroquois Nationals
from press release
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Former University of Maryland
men's lacrosse All-Americans Bill McGlone and Joe Walters helped
Team USA win the inaugural Bowhunter Cup, 13-11, over the Iroquois
Nationals Saturday night in Syracuse.
McGlone, who was a two-time first team All-America midfielder for
the Terps, scored three goals in the win, including the game-winner
on a jumping shot on the crease with 9:20 left in the fourth
quarter.
The Nationals jumped out to an early 4-0 lead before the U.S. team
got two on the board before the end of the first. The second
quarter was a back-and-forth struggle and the game went to the half
tied at 6-6.
The two squads traded goals to start the third quarter when McGlone
scored his first of the night, giving Team USA its first lead of
the game, 8-7, at the 2:40 mark of the third. He added his second
of the night with 1:16 left in the third, converting on a fast
break opportunity to make it a 9-7 game.
The exhibition game was a tune-up for both squads heading into the
third World Indoor Lacrosse Championships next May in the Czech
Republic.
