U.S. Indoor Team Will Play Iroquois Nationals

NEW YORK, N.Y. --  U.S. Indoor Lacrosse announced Monday the tryout and training camp dates for the U.S. National Team which will compete in the 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse Championship.

The schedule culminates with a pair of exhibition games this fall, including the first-ever Bowhunter Cup, an international "friendly" between the United States and the Iroquois Nationals to be held at the War Memorial at Oncenter in Syracuse, N.Y., on Sept. 25.

The World Indoor Lacrosse Championship takes place at Telsa Arena in Prague, Czech Republic on May 21-28, 2011. Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, England, Finland, Ireland and the Iroquois Nationals will join the United States in the one-week tournament.

Team USA recently finished first at the World Field Lacrosse Championships, defeating Canada, 12-10, in the gold medal game. The Iroquois Nationals were unable to participate, as the British
government refused to recognize the teams' Haudenosaunee passports or provide them with visas to travel to England.

The Iroquois Nationals are 2-0 all-time against the Americans in indoor competition, winning in pool play in 2003 and in the semifinals in 2007.

The fourth annual USIL Combine / Competition will be held the weekend of Aug. 28-29, at TurfCity Indoor Sports Center in Wayne, N.J. The Combine / Competition is a two-day event, featuring agility testing, as well as indoor lacrosse drills and scrimmage play on Saturday, followed by an invitational tournament which will be scouted by both Team USA and professional GMs and scouts on Sunday.

Tryouts for the U.S. Men's National Indoor Lacrosse Team will be held  Sept. 10-12 at Turf City in Wayne, N.J. For more information, visit www.usindoorlacrosse.org.
