The eighth-ranked Boston University lacrosse team needed overtime to continue its stronghold on the America East Conference, but the Terriers came through, posting a 9-8 victory over No. 14 New Hampshire to claim an unprecedented fourth straight league crown on Sunday afternoon at Nickerson Field. BU won its 13th straight game and will face Sacred Heard in an NCAA Play-In game on Saturday, May 3.
Junior Sarah Dalton, who had a game-high six points, senior co-captain Lauren Morton and sophomore Traci Landy each had a hat trick to account for all of the scoring. Junior Kelly Munroe was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player and was joined on the All-Tournament Team by Dalton, Landy and sophomore goalkeeper Rachel Klein.
After having a potential game-winning goal called back with 10 seconds left in regulation due to an illegal stick, the Terriers used goals from Landy and Dalton in the first overtime session to take a 9-7 lead. UNH got one back with 1:21 left in overtime, but the Terriers held on to win the league title for the seventh time overall and sixth time in the last seven years.
