Boston University: No. 9/11 Lacrosse Completes Perfect America East Season with 14-5 Victory at UMBC

BALTIMORE, Md. - Bolstered by a five-goal performance from junior Sarah Dalton, the No. 9/11 Boston University lacrosse team capped its first perfect America East season in three years with a 14-5 victory at UMBC on Saturday afternoon. The victory improves the Terriers' record to 13-2 - including a 6-0 conference mark - and extends their win streak to 10 games.
BU never trailed in the contest, scoring the game's first five goals before outscoring the Retrievers 7-1 in the second half. UMBC fell to 4-12 overall and 2-4 in league play.
The Terriers reeled off eight straight goals at one point, beginning with a tally by sophomore McKinley Curro with six seconds left in the first half to give BU a 7-4 lead entering the break.
Curro tallied three goals and an assist, while senior co-captain Molly Collins recorded one goal and a career-best three assists. Sophomore Traci Landy notched a goal and two helpers and classmate Xan Weitzel contributed a goal and an assist. Senior co-captain Lauren Morton, junior Steph Walker and sophomore Erica Baumgartner added a goal apiece.
Sophomore Rachel Klein made nine saves and kept the Retrievers scoreless for nearly 28 minutes after the home team cut its deficit to 6-4 in the final minute of the first half.
UMBC was paced by senior Ali Levendusky, who registered two goals and an assist. Sophomore Kate Quick made 14 saves in a solid losing effort in goal.
BU will host the America East Championship on April 25 & 27 at Nickerson Field. The top-seeded Terriers will face fourth-seeded Albany in the semifinals on Friday, while No. 2-seeded Vermont will match up with third-seeded New Hampshire.
The Terriers will head to Hanover, N.H., for their regular-season finale on Wednesday (April 23) against Dartmouth.
