F&M, Hamilton to Meet for WD3 Title

The No. 3 Franklin & Marshall women's lacrosse team could not have picked a better time to get its first-ever win over second-ranked The College of New Jersey, posting a 14-12 victory in the 2008 NCAA Semifinals hosted by Roanoke College on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats (19-1) advance to the Division III national championship game for the second straight season.

Junior Sarah Meisenberg matched a season-high five goals and added two assists for seven points, while Shannon Summers scored a goal and dished out three assists to register her 200th career point to put the F&M one game away from defending its title and becoming the fourth school to win back-to-back tournaments...MORE

Hamilton 11, Salisbury 10
Hamilton College opened up a 10-5 lead in the second half and the Continentals held on for an 11-10 win against previously unbeaten Salisbury University in an NCAA Division III championships tournament semifinal game.

Seven different players scored goals for Hamilton, which did not get credit for a single assist. Nicole Tetreault, Kaillie Briscoe, Jen McGowan and Anne Graveley notched two goals each. Liz Rave, Hilary Saverin and Sarah Bray all added one goal.

The historic win pushes nationally ranked No. 4 Hamilton (20-1 overall) into the College's first-ever national championship game on Sunday, May 18, at noon. The game will be televised live from Donald J. Kerr Stadium by CBS College Sports Network.

F&M handed Hamilton its only loss this year, a 14-13 decision in West Palm Beach, Fla., on March 19. The Continentals held a 13-10 lead in that game with less than five minutes left in regulation...MORE
