Washington, D.C. - The No. 12 Georgetown University men's lacrosse team posted its highest scoring output since March, 2002 as the Hoyas stopped No. 7 Delaware, 18-10 on Wednesday afternoon at the Multi-Sport Field. GU improves to 2-2 on the year while the Blue Hens fall to 5-1. Georgetown is now 7-0 all-time vs. Delaware.

The Hoyas led 1-0 after the first quarter. Delaware took a 3-1 lead in the opening minutes of the second period before the Hoyas went on a 6-1 run to close the second. GU led 7-4 at halftime and following four more goals to start the third quarter, Georgetown led 11-4. The Blue Hens wouldn't get closer than six goals the rest of the way.

Seniors Brandon Cannon (Haverford, Pa./Haverford School) and Andrew Baird (Baltimore, Md./Loyola Blakefield) posted four goals apiece while sophomore Andrew Brancaccio (Bethesda, Md./Georgetown Prep) and sophomore Ricky Mirabito (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Forks) tallied hat tricks. The three goals were the first of Mirabito's career.

Cannon also dished out three assists for a game-high seven points.

Senior midfielder Dan Vinson (Pleasant Hill, Calif./De La Salle) was credited with winning 11-20 faceoffs after notching just one faceoff coming into the game.

"We did a good job of turning this thing around after a tough loss at Syracuse over the weekend," said head coach Dave Urick. "The guys responded well.

"Jerry (Lambe) did a great job against their leading scoring (Curtis Dickson) and offensively, we executed well against their zone," added Urick.

Junior Chris Taylor (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) recorded five ground balls to go along with two caused turnovers.

Senior Miles Kass (Rye, N.Y./Hotchkiss) posted 10 saves.
