Sideline Chatter: March 2009

What's game do you have circled on your calendar and why?

"One game at a time," coaches always say.

Yeah, yeah. They're probably right, but let's be honest: we all look schedules and point to a game we're looking forward to the most.

Maybe it's a revenge game against a team that beat you last year. Or it could be your first game with a new team. Or maybe a college game you really want to see. LM wants to know: what game is "the game" for you this season? Tell us why.

This Month's Winner: Patrick Winters, Highlands Ranch, Colo.

Rochester Knighthawks at Colorado Mammoth on April 3. The return of Gary Gait to the home of the Mammoth, where his jersey hangs in the rafters.

How about the first one I officiate? It'll probably be ugly!
-- Bobbie Bardzik, Baltimore, Md.

May 26 - New York Yankees at Texas Rangers. I'll be on my couch with a six pack and admiring Derek Jeter's, um, skills. More importantly, it's the Tuesday after Memorial Day, meaning I get to have a life again.
-- Matt DaSilva, Baltimore, Md.

Just my own girls' rec games! I still love watching the younger girls learn the game in the Fallston, Md., rec council, age groups 11/12 and 13/14.
-- Sharon Paul Perfetti, Fallston, Md.

Michigan at UCSB on Feb. 13 at 6 p.m. because it's the UCSB women's lacrosse home opener.
-- Paul Ramsey, Santa Barbara, Calif.

Maryland vs. Duke and Maryland vs. Hopkins at M&T Bank Stadium. Looking forward to seeing what kind of draw the larger venue brings, and looking for a Terps victory!
-- Beverly Brown, Lexington Park, Md.

Every single one. I know it's a cliché, but every single one.
-- Katie Gallagher, College Park, Md.
Note: The author plays at Maryland.

Well, we definitely have a little grudge to settle, a little vendetta with Northwestern. We're going to Chicago April 25. That will be a fun trip.
-- Kaitlyn Lombardo, Philadelphia, Pa.
Note: The author plays at Penn.

Salisbury's matchup against Stevenson April 4. Stevenson has become a big game for the Sea Gulls since it joined the CAC a couple of years ago. The Mustangs were on the verge of giving Salisbury its first regular-season conference loss ever last season until Salisbury made a fourth-quarter comeback.
-- Tim Smith, Salisbury, Md.

The most obvious date, to me, is the Day of the Rivals doubleheader at M&T - Army-Navy and Hopkins-Maryland. They're the two best rivalries in lacrosse, although Hopkins-Syracuse is right up there.
-- Bill Tanton, Baltimore, Md.
