Wings Open Training Camp Dec. 3

from press release

The Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League will kick off their quest for an NLL record seventh championship when the team opens training camp at Bucksmont Indoor Sports Center in Hatfield, PA on December 3, 2011. The camp will run during the first three weekends of the month, concluding on December 18, 2011. All training camp sessions will be open to the public.

Additionally, to help prepare new members of the Wings for a productive season, rookie/free agent training camp will be held at Bucksmont Indoor Sports Center on November 13, 2011.

In preparation for the opening of training camp, the Wings have named transition player Brodie Merrill Team Captain and forward Dan Dawson and transition player Max Seibald Assistant Captains.

Leading the way for the Wings, the Canadian-born Brodie Merrill will embark on his sixth season in the NLL. In his final season with the Edmonton Rush, Merill recorded 47 points, 9 goals, 38 assist and recovered 187 loose balls in 16 games played. The Georgetown graduate was acquired via an off-season trade and is a two-time winner of the NLL Transition Player of the Year, most recently in 2010.

During the 2011 season, Dawson scored 31 goals and tallied 59 assists as the Boston Blazers' top offensive player. Dawson, who was selected by the Wings with the first overall pick in the Boston Blazers dispersal draft, was also named the 2009 NLL MVP. Seibald, a graduate of Cornell University, tallied a career best 10 goals and 14 assists in 15 games last season.

In addition to naming the captain and assistants, the Wings have chosen defender Paul Dawson and goalie Brandon Miller as part of the team's leadership group.

"Brodie's leadership is infectious and it will spread throughout our team and produce more leaders," says Wings Head Coach and General Manager Johnny Mouradian. "All three of our captains and our leadership group which includes Paul Dawson and Brandon Miller are obsessed with winning and that is our focus."

Fans can catch their first glimpse of the 2012 Philadelphia Wings team against the Rochester Knighthawks at Sun National Bank Center in Trenton, NJ, on Sunday, December 11 at 1:00 p.m.
