Mammoth Stays Undefeated After Strong Fourth Quarter

DENVER – John Grant Jr. led a torrid fourth quarter offensive attack with two goals and an assist and Chris Levis turned in his best performance of the season saving 40 of 47 shots.
Grant led the team with four goals and three assists while Cameron Holding opened the scoring, recording his first NLL goal in the 12-7 victory in Minnesota.
Mammoth forward Sean Pollock broke a 7-7 tie late in the fourth quarter with his second tally of the night. Pollock also had three assists concluding a five-point night.
“It was a tough battle all night but in the fourth quarter we found our legs.” Pollock said.
Grant continues to lead the league with 52 points and 23 goals. Grant widened the lead to 10-7 with 3:34 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Pollock scored his ninth goal of the season with 5:22 remaining in the fourth to give the Mammoth an 8-7 lead that they didn’t relinquish.
The Mammoth finally pulled away, scoring six of the game’s final seven goals – including an empty-net tally by Ian Hawksbee – to win for the sixth time in as many games this season.
Mammoth goaltender Chris Levis recorded his sixth victory of the season, stopping 40 of 47 shots. Tyler Carlson took the loss in net for the Rush, making 26 saves and allowing 12 goals.
Ryan Benesch led the Swarm with one goal and two assists and fired ten shots through out the game. The Mammoth and Swarm traded off goals in the early going and headed to halftime with the Mammoth having a slight lead at 5-4.
The Swarm took a 1-0 lead early on a goal by Andrew Watt but the Mammoth answered with two consecutive scores. Scott Stewart then converted on an unassisted goal giving the Mammoth a slight 3-2 lead heading into the second quarter.
