East Beats West in All-Star Shootout

VERONA, N.Y. -- Shawn Evans (Rochester Knighthawks) had four goals and eight assists to earn MVP honors and lead the East Division to a 30-26 victory Sunday over the West Division in the National Lacrosse League All-Star Game at the Turning Stone Casino Resort.
Mark Steenhuis (Buffalo Blazers) had five goals for the East, while Dan Dawson (Boston Blazers) had a goal and eight assists. Dawson's Blazers teammate, Josh Sanderson, added four goals and three assists. Rookie Cody Jamieson (Buffalo Bandits) had four goals and an assist.
"The fans got what they expected," John Tavares, the NLL's all-time leading scorer, told the Associated Press. The Bandits legend had two goals and an assist in the East win. "There were a lot of goals, and not much defense."
Luke Wiles (Washington Stealth) led the West with six goals and four assists. Scott Ranger (Calgary Rougnecks) added three goals and three assists.
The all-star game was hosted by the Oneida Indian Nation at the Turning Stone Resort Casino's Event Center.
During a halftime ceremony, the NLL and the Oneida Nation honored the 2010 Iroquois Nationals lacrosse team, which was prevented from travelling to the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championships in Manchester, Englad on Native American Haudenosaunee passports in July.
Several Iroquois members participated in the game including Jamieson, Brett Bucktooth (Buffalo Bandits), Jeff Shattler (Calgary Roughnecks) and Sid Smith (Rochester Knighthawks).
