Bold, Zywicki, Peyser, Merrill Win NLL Awards

Rochester Knighthawks goaltender Aaron Bold was named the National Lacrosse League’s Overall Player of the Week for Week 4 of the 2010 NLL Season.
Bold stopped 63 of a total 79 shots against in a busy two game
weekend. The Knighthawks netminder stopped 39 of the 47 shots faced
in a 16-8 win over previously undefeated Toronto. On Friday, with
the Knighthawks down 5-1 in the second, Bold stopped 24 of 32 shots
in a 13-8 loss at Orlando. The Week 4 NLL schedule consisted of
games played on the weekend of Jan. 29-30.
Washington Stealth forward Jeff Zywicki was named Offensive Player
of the Week. Zywicki totaled nine points on three goals and
six assists in a closely contested 12-11 win at Colorado. Of his
three fourth quarter assists, his last one came as an assist to the
game winner with just over a minute to go in regulation. Zywicki is
currently leading the league in points with 35 (13 Goals, 22
Assists).
Orlando Titans defenseman Greg Peyser was named Defensive Player
of the Week. Peyser picked up 16 loose balls and won 12 of his
20 faceoffs. He also tallied two assists in the Titans’ 13-8
victory over the Rochester Knighthawks.
The Transition Player of the Week is Brodie Merrill of the
Edmonton Rush. Merrill had one goal and two assists while
picking up 18 loose balls. He was also called on to take over for
an injured Pat Jones by winning five of his seven faceoffs in
Edmonton's 14-11 win over Calgary.
Edmonton Rush defenseman Brett Mydske was voted Rookie of the
Week. Mydske picked up seven loose balls and scored two goals, the
first of his NLL career, in a 14-11 win over Calgary.
The NLL Weekly Player Awards are determined each week by a vote of
the General Managers & Head Coaches of the league’s
eleven member clubs.
