Sanderson, O'Toole, Rabil, Billings Win Awards

Calgary Roughnecks forward Josh Sanderson was named the National Lacrosse League’s Overall Player of the Week for Week 1 of the 2010 NLL Season.
Sanderson was directly involved in 10 of the 12 goals Calgary
scored Sunday in a 12-7 win over Minnesota. He scored four goals
and tallied six assists in the victory. Sanderson also won the
Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Toronto Rock forward Garrett Billings won Rookie of the Week on
the heels of a memorable pro debut. Billings, who played college
lacrosse at the University of Virginia, scored five goals and
tallied two assists in Toronto’s 17-7 win at
Boston.
Rochester Knighthawks goaltender Pat O’Toole was named
Defensive Player of the Week. O’Toole stopped 37 of the 42
Buffalo shots he faced as the Knighthawks defeated Buffalo,
10-5.
The Transition Player of the Week was Paul Rabil of the Washington
Stealth. Rabil scored two goals, tallied three assists and picked
up six loose balls in Washington’s 17-8 win over Colorado.
The Johns Hopkins alum scored one of his goals while the Stealth
was shorthanded.
The NLL Weekly Player Awards are determined each week by a vote of
the general managers and head coaches of the league’s 11
member clubs.
