Rochester GM Thorpe Reactivates...Himself
from press release
The Rochester Knighthawks made five player transactions
following Tuesday's National Lacrosse League Trade Deadline. One of
the moves involved General Manager Regy Thorpe reactivating himself
as one of the team's defenseman.
Thorpe, who is in his 15th season with the Knighthawks, is an original member of the franchise. The general manager/defenseman is Rochester's all-time leader in penalty minutes (373), loose balls (943) and games played (187). Thorpe is also the only player in team history to play for both championship teams: 1997 and 2007.
The Knighthawks also activated newly acquired forward Jamie Rooney and defenseman Troy Bonterre. Rooney came over to Rochester in a deal that sent Bill Greer to the New York Titans. This season in New York, Rooney registered seven goals, seven assists and 30 loose balls. In his career, he has 27 goals, 30 assists and 89 loose balls in 25 games.
Bonterre returns to the lineup after missing the last game. He has played in seven of the team's nine games this season, while collecting 19 penalty minutes and 13 loose balls.
Rochester also released forward Andrew Lazore and transition man Anthony Kelly. Lazore played in one game and notched on assist. Kelly appeared in two games and collected one assist, nine loose balls and 25 faceoff wins.
