Knighthawks Nips Bandits in OT

The Rochester Knighthawks defeated the Buffalo Bandits in
overtime by a score of 15-14 on Saturday night at Blue Cross Arena
in Rochester. Shawn Evans scored the game winning goal at 4:23 of
the overtime period.
The game was a back and forth battle throughout. Rochester led 5-4
after the first quarter, then Buffalo led 10-9 at halftime.
Rochester held a 14-13 lead with two minutes remaining in the game
when a goal by Mike Accursi tied the game at 14-14 and sent the
contest to overtime.
Shawn Evans scored four goals and tallied six assists for the
Knighthawks. Craig Point also scored four goals and one assist. Joe
Walters, Shawn Williams and Jason Henhawk each scored twice. Pat
O'Toole only made 22 saves on 36 shots faced, but played well
enough to pick up the win.
For Buffalo, John Tavares scored four goals and three asissts.
Roger Vyse scored three goals and one assist. Mark Steenhuis was
held to a goal and two assists. Goaltender Mike Thompson struggled
early, allowing four goals in the first seven minutes of play. He
was replaced by Ken Montour for the remainder of the game.
