Outlaws Move into First Place with Win Over Rattlers

from press release

DENVER — The Denver Outlaws moved into first place after capturing a 20-7 victory over the Rochester Rattlers on Saturday night. Denver improved its record to 4-0 and gains sole possession of first place, while Rochester drops to 1-3.

The Outlaws built an early lead in the first quarter, and never looked back. Denver attackman Brendan Mundorf buried two and assisted teammate Chris Bocklet to string together a three goal run to end the quarter. Rattlers midfielder Rob Rotanz tallied the lone goal for the visitors.

Denver cushioned their advantage throughout the second quarter and headed into halftime with a strong 9-3 lead. Bocklet grabbed two more goals in the second to give him four first half tallies. Attacker Jeremy Boltus scored a pair, while midfielder Justin Turri rounded out the scoring for Denver. Rochester saw goals from midfielder Jordan MacIntosh and attackman Kevin Leveille.

The Rattlers opened the second half with back-to-back goals from Rotanz and fellow attackman Steven Boyle to cut the Denver lead to four. A five goal Outlaws run would put the game out of reach, and give Denver a 14-5 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Denver continued their success in the final quarter, adding six more goals and limiting Rochester to two scores. Player of the Game accolades went to Bocklet after a six goal, two assist outing. Denver also got big points from Boltus and Mundorf, who amassed seven and six points respectively. Denver's Anthony Kelly had a great night in the faceoff X, going 21-31. MacIntosh, Rotanz, and Boyle all finished with a pair of goals for the Rattlers.

The Denver Outlaws next take the field on Friday, May 31, hosting the Boston Cannons at their own Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Rochester will have to wait until Sunday, June 2, when they host the Ohio Machine at 5:00 p.m. (ET).
