Bayhawks Bring Back Lamon as Assistant Coach

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The Chesapeake Bayhawks of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) have announced that John Lamon has been hired to head coach Dave Cottle's coaching staff for the 2013 season. Lamon will stand as Cottle's assistant coach and bring valuable experience from his 2010 Championship bout with the team under former head coach Brendan Kelly.
"I am excited to have John back on our staff," Cottle said. "He took a year off to watch his kids play. John is well liked and respected by the players and totally committed to helping the Bayhawks."
Lamon graduated from University of Maryland in 1979 with a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing. His collegiate lacrosse achievements include the title of All-Atlantic Coast Conference and also a being a two-time All-American in both 1978 and 1979. Post graduation, Lamon went on to claim two National Championships with the Maryland Lacrosse Club, was an eight time USCLA All-Club Attackman, four time Hero's Club Attackman of the Year, two time USCLA Player of the Year, and also inducted into the Maryland Lacrosse Club Hall of Fame.
Lamon's Pro-Lacrosse career was spent with the Washington Wave's Indoor Team from 1985-1988, where he was awarded the MVP award in 1988. In 1986, Lamon was a member of the World Champion US Lacrosse Team. He also gave back to the lacrosse community which gave him so many great years. Through that service he was awarded the Willis Bilderback Award and the Annapolis Touchdown Club Award, both for service and contributions to youth lacrosse.
The 2013 home opener is Saturday, May 4th against the New York Lizards at 7:00 PM at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium.
