MLL: Toronto Trades Cinosky to Washington
from press release
BOSTON -- Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the
premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, today announced that
the Toronto Nationals have traded all-star defenseman Joe Cinosky
to the Washington Bayhawks, according to MLL Commissioner David
Gross. In exchange, Toronto receives the second overall pick
in the 2010 supplemental draft from Washington. Toronto will
now own the second and sixth pick in the first round.
Joe Cinosky was selected with the ninth overall pick in the 2008
collegiate draft by New Jersey and played in 11 games for the
Pride. During the 2009 season, Cinosky played in all 12 games
for the MLL champion Toronto Nationals, scooping 26 ground
balls. He also made his first MLL All-Star Game,
participating on the Young Guns Team, and was most recently named
to the 2010 U.S. men’s national team.
Bayhawks general manager Scott Hiller is thrilled to add a player
of Cinosky’s caliber. “With the addition of Mike Evans
last year, and Joe this year, we have a great young defensive
group," Hiller said. "We are excited about Joe joining the Bayhawks
and contributing to the overall success of the team.”
Cinosky came to the MLL after an outstanding collegiate career at
the University of Maryland, where he was a four0year starter, team
captain and an All-American in 2008.
Toronto coach Dave Huntley added, “Joe was a great player for
us on our 2009 championship team and we are sure he will continue
that next year with the Bayhawks. We wish him
well.”
The 2010 Major League Lacrosse Supplemental Draft will take place
on Thursday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m. The 2010 Major League Lacrosse
season begins on Friday, May 18. Season highlights
include the 2010 MLL All Star Game in Boston, MA on July 8, 2010
and the New Balance MLL Championship Weekend at Navy-Marine Corps
Memorial Stadium in Annapolis, Md., Aug. 21-22.
