Colin Cassidy Tournament Raises More Than $25K
from press release
DENVER – NDP Lacrosse, Team Genesis
Lacrosse Club, the Colorado Mammoth and the Denver Outlaws
announced today that the Colin L. Cassidy Memorial Lacrosse
Tournament raised more than $25,000. That amount exceeds the
initial goal of $15,000 set forth by the NDP and Team Genesis. Held
on Saturday, September 12 at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the
event hosted 72 teams across 11 divisions and carried a policy of
“suggested donations” with all participants.
The Colorado Lacrosse Foundation (the Colorado chapter of US
Lacrosse) will receive the majority of the proceeds from the
tournament, and will oversee the creation of college scholarships
which will benefit local lacrosse players. A portion of the
proceeds will also be donated to the Edgewater Fire Department
Foundation and the Trinity United Methodist Church.
“Chris and I were overwhelmed by the sheer size of the event
and the generosity of everyone who played, volunteered and
donated,” said Sara Cassidy, Colin’s mother.
“This event was a true testament to the amazing people in the
lacrosse community. Our entire family is deeply
grateful.”
Colin Cassidy, son of Chris and Sara Cassidy, drowned in Vail on
June 28 while attending the Vail Shootout lacrosse tournament with
his family.
