MLL All-Star Game Will Return to Boston
from press release
Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor
lacrosse league, and the Boston Cannons announced today that the
2011 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game will take place on
Saturday, July 9, 2011 at Boston's Harvard Stadium, according to
MLL Commissioner David Gross.
"The MLL All-Star Game is a tremendous celebration of the sport of
lacrosse with the greatest players in the world taking part," said
commissioner Gross. "The fans love the competition, the
halftime Bud Light Skills Competition and the interaction with the
players after the game. We're proud to have the event back in
Boston for 2011."
The 2010 All-Star Game at Harvard Stadium drew a Cannons record
crowd of 11,771 as the US Men's National Team defeated the MLL
All-Stars 13-12. Major League Lacrosse and the Boston Cannons
put on a full day of events for lacrosse fans that included the
pre-game fan zone with the Warrior Chop Shop, Brine mini-field,
Gentle Giant Challenge, and the best lacrosse merchandise and
memorabilia from New Balance, Warrior, Brine and MLL. At
halftime was the annual Bud Light Skills Competition. Home
team favorites did not disappoint as Paul Rabil won his second
consecutive Bud Light Fastest Shot title, matching last year's 111
mph shot. Cannons' midfielder Kevin Buchanan won the
Freestyle Shot Competition with a highlight reel goal. Rabil
and Buchanan will look to defend their titles at the 2011 All-Star
Game along with the 2010 two-point contest winner Ned Crotty of the
Chicago Machine.
"The Boston Cannons are excited to once again host the MLL All-Star
Game," said Cannons Vice President and General Manager Mark
Kastrud. "We strive to bring the best lacrosse in the world
to our fans in Boston and the MLL All-Star Game brings the best of
the best. Cannons Season Ticket Holders will again receive
this game as part of their package, brining great value to Cannons
Season Tickets." Kastrud added, "The 2011 All-Star game will
be the lacrosse event of the summer, featuring a Youth Tournament
during the day, the Fan Zone pre-game and the Bud Light Skills
Competition at halftime."
The 2011 MLL All-Star Game will be broadcast live on ESPN2 and will
include the Bud Light Skills Competition at halftime.
Pre-game will again feature the Fan Zone, free for all attendees to
take part in inter-active skills, sampling and entertainment from
MLL and Cannons sponsors.
