2010 Great Atlantic All-MLL Team Tabbed

Major League Lacrosse, the premier professional lacrosse league,
announced Friday the players who have been named to the 2010 Great
Atlantic All-Major League Lacrosse Team, recognizing the best
players at each position. Named to the All-MLL team were:
Attack: Matt Poskay (Boston), Mike Leveille
(Chicago), Matt Danowski (Long Island)
Midfield: Paul Rabil (Boston), Peet Poillon
(Chesapeake), Max Seibald (Denver)
Defense: Brodie Merrill (Toronto), Michael Evans
(Chesapeake), Lee Zink (Denver), Matt Bocklet (Denver)
Goalkeeper: Drew Adams (Long Island)
Faceoff Specialist: Alex Smith (Chesapeake)
The All-MLL selections were based on votes submitted by the
general managers and head coaches of the six MLL teams.
For the first time, Matt Poskay has been named to the Great
Atlantic ALL-MLL team. His 45 goals this season not only leads the
league but places him at a tie for fifth place all-time on the
single season goal list. He also led the league with 52 points this
season. Poskay was the winner of the Major League Lacrosse Warrior
Offensive Player of the year award and was named the Bud Light
MVP. Since entering the league in 2006, Poskay has scored 140
career goals and 160 career points.
Chicago's Mike Leveille has been voted onto the 2010 Great
Atlantic All-MLL Team following a solid season. The former Syracuse
Orangeman had a huge impact on offense for the Machine this season.
Leveille finished tied for 5th in goals scored this season with 22,
and added 14 assists to his total of 36 points. Leveille has
scored 64 career goals and dished out 50 assists for 114 points
since being drafted in 2008. This is the first All-MLL Team
selection for Leveille.
This past season, Long Island's Matt Danowksi finished second in
the league with 25 goals, second in the league in points with 47,
and tallied the second most assists 18. During a week 9 win over
the Toronto Machine, Danowski broke the record for most 2-point
goals in a single game, scoring 3 from behind the arc, including
the game-winning goal. In his career, the Duke graduate has
60 goals, 46 assists, and 114 points. Danowski was also named to
the 2010 All-Star Game. The third straight year he has been given
that honor.
For the first time in his career, Denver's Max Seibald was
selected to the Great Atlantic All-MLL Team. While playing in 9
games this season Seibald scored a career best 20 goals, 8 assists,
and 30 points. He added 2 2-point goals this year. In just his
second season in the MLL the former Cornell star improved from a
rookie campaign in which he scored 9 goals and 12 points.
For the second straight year Boston's Paul Rabil was selected to
the Great Atlantic All-MLL Team. Rabil scored 21 goals, 8
assists, and 37 points in just 10 games. Last year's Major League
Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Year and MVP, scored an impressive
6 two-point goals during the season, tied for second most in the
league. Rabil was a member of the gold medal winning Team USA in
Manchester, England at the FIL World Lacrosse Championships.
Chesapeake's Peet Poillon has been awarded a spot on the 2010
Great Atlantic All-MLL Team for the first time in his career. The
Bayhawks midfielder made his name known in the MLL in his first
full season in the league, scoring 21 goals and 15 assists. He
finished third in the league in points with 41. Poillon found
success on the first game of the season against the Long Island
Lizards scoring 5 goals, 2 assists, and 7 points. The graduate from
UMBC was named the MLL Warrior Most Improved Player.
Toronto's Brodie Merrill has been named the Warrior Defensive
Player of the Year for the fifth consecutive season. He picked up
an impressive 55 ground balls this season, putting him second on
the all-time regular season list. Merrill's 12 points and 9 assists
lead all defensive players in the two categories, He also had 3
goals. This is the fifth time Merrill has been selected to the
Great Atlantic All-MLL Team. He played for Team Canada in the 2010
FIL World Championships in Manchester, England.
Chesapeake's Michael Evans has been voted onto the Great Atlantic
All-MLL Team for the first time in his career. In just his second
season in Major League Lacrosse, since being drafted out of John
Hopkins by the Bayhawks, Evans has proven to be one of the best
lock down defenders in the league. He also added 6 groundballs,
while playing in all 12 games this season.
The Outlaws' Lee Zink was a cornerstone of Denver's successful
defensive unit in 2010. Zink tied a personal best, scooping up 26
groundballs this season. The third time he has done so in his
career. The Maryland graduate was also a member of the gold medal
winning Team USA at the FIL World Lacrosse Championships. This is
the second straight season in which Zink has been selected to the
Great Atlantic All-MLL Team.
Denver's Matt Bocklet has been selected to the Great Atlantic All-
MLL Team for the second straight year. In just his third season in
the MLL, Bocklet led all defenseman with 6 goals this season and
added 4 assists. He finished with the most groundballs of any
defenseman in the league, picking up 55. This is the second
straight season in which the John Hopkins graduate was selected to
play in the MLL-All Star Game.
Long Island's goaltender Drew Adams made the first start of his
MLL career in Week 1. The third round pick out of Penn State
University played 708 minutes, more than any other goalie. He
recorded a 7-5 record with a league low 11.53 goals against
average. He allowed just 136 goals while recording a .519 save
percentage.
Finally, Chesapeake Bayhawks face-off specialist Alex Smith has
been placed on the Great Atlantic All-MLL Team for the fourth year
in a row. Smith went 196-332 this season in the face-off circle.
Smith has a career regular season face-off winning percentage of
60%. He is already sixth all-time in face-off wins with 861,
and has taken 1,426 face-offs in his MLL career.
