Semifinals Set for MLL Championship Weekend
from staff reports
* LI Enters Playoffs on Best Streak Since
2008
* Kimmel, Bayhawks Clip Cannons in Overtime
* Denver Drubs Machine, Hits Playoffs in Stride
The matchups are set for the semifinals Aug. 21 at Major League
Lacrosse Championship Weekend, presented by Warrior.
In the first semifinal, top-seeded Boston will take on
fourth-seeded Chesapeake at 12 p.m. Eastern. It will be a rematch
of Saturday's exhilarating regulars season finale, won by the
Bayhawks thanks to a late two-point goal rally and the overtime
heroics of rookie Michael Kimmel.
The second semifinal pits the second-seeded Denver Outlaws
against the third-seeded Long Island Lizards at 3 p.m. Eastern.
Both teams won in their regular season finales Saturday. Long
Island enters the playoffs as arguably the MLL's hottest team. The
Lizards' five-game winning streak is their best since June
2008.
The two winners will meet Sunday, Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. for the MLL
championship and rights to hoist the Steinfeld Cup.
All three games will be played at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial
Stadium in Annapolis, Md. Tickets are available at www.majorleaguelacrosse.com.
