Denver Coasts Past Toronto, 15-8

The Toronto Nationals fell 15-8 to the Denver Outlaws Saturday
night at INVESCO Field. The Nationals, now 4-2, were unable to
rally off a fourth quarter spark and drop from first place in Major
League Lacrosse (MLL) for the first time this season. Toronto
is now tied with the Long Island Lizards for second.
Merrick Thomson extended his lead as top goal scorer for the
Toronto Nationals adding three to tonight's decision. Colin Doyle,
Jordan Levine, Jordan Hall, Geoff Snider and Jeff Zywicki each
added one.
Toronto's rookie goaltender Doc Schneider played all 60 minutes in
net for the Nationals turning away 20 of Denver's 35 shots on
net.
Snider won 15-of-26 faceoffs for Toronto against Denver's Shane
Walterhoefer.
The Denver Outlaws (5-1) were led by Matt Brown with four goals and
Brendan Mundorf with three. Drew Westervelt and Jeff Sonke added
two, and Nate Watkins, Max Seibald, Brian Langtry, and Dan Hardy
put one each toward the total.
Jesse Schwartzman recorded the win in the Outlaws allowing eight of
25 Toronto attempts. Schwartzman earns Bud Light MVP honours for
his performance in Denver's net.
The Nationals head into the second half of the 2009 MLL regular
season with a busy week. On Thursday, June 25 the Nationals travel
to Boston to play the Cannons for the first time this season. Game
time is set for 7:00 p.m. ET at Harvard Stadium; the game will be
shown live on TSN2 and ESPN2.
