The NESCAC sent four teams to the NCAA tournament last spring, led by repeat champion Tufts, so it’s not surprising that the conference is well represented in our preseason All-American roll. The Jumbos are the only team to have a pair of selections – the incomparable John Uppgren along with FOGO Conor Helfrich. Amherst’s Quinn Moroney and Bates’ Charlie Fay also got the nod from the league.

After scoring an NCAA-record 109 goals last year, Lynchburg’s Austin Stewart is an easy pick to run alongside Moroney and Uppgren on attack. Fay is joined by Denison’s Blair Farinholt and Salisbury’s Tom Cirillo in the midfield.

The defense has a CNY flavor with Ithaca’s Eli Gobrecht and Cortland’s Dave Foster getting the nod, along with Gettysburg’s Geoff Davis. Brian Neff, the backbone of Ursinus’ soul-crushing defense, winds up in the cage. RIT’s Matt Hossack, who was named the Player of the Year by the USILA, fills out the lineup at long-stick midfielder.
