With new rules and new faces at play, the 2016 season could bring some exciting results, but all eyes will still turn toward key returners among top-ranked teams.

Nike/Lacrosse Magazine preseason No. 1 Maryland, the reigning two-time NCAA champion, is led by a strong senior duo in two-time Tewaaraton winner Taylor Cummings and All-American defender Alice Mercer, who both earn spots on LM's preseason All-American team with last year's impact freshman Megan Whittle.

Included alongside Cummings, LM's Preseason Player of the Year, are her fellow four finalists for LM's honor – Selena Lasota, Sarah Mannelly, Barbara Sullivan and Kayla Treanor. Mannelly, Sullivan and Treanor are also returning Tewaaraton finalists.
