Nike/US Lacrosse National High School Girls' Top 25
|
Regional Reports: NORTHEAST | MID-ATLANTIC | SOUTH | MIDWEST | WEST
The No. 1 spot in the Nike/US Lacrosse Top 25 is settled.
McDonogh (Md.) won its 91st-straight game in addition to its fifth consecutive IAAM A championship. The Eagles finished 22-0 this season and posted eight wins over teams currently ranked in the Top 25.
In addition to McDonogh, St. Stephen's & St. Agnes (Va.) and Georgetown Visitation (D.C.), all ranked in Top 5, completed their seasons. St. Stephen's won the ISL and VISAA titles, while Georgetown Visitation finished as ISL runners-up.
With New York and New Jersey just beginning their playoffs, there is plenty of movement to be had in the final few weeks of the season, especially in the bottom half of the ranking.
Teams like Marriotts Ridge (Md.), Loyola Academy (Ill.), Christian Brothers (N.Y.) and Notre Dame Academy (Mass.) are close enough to being in or out of the rankings that their performance over the next couple weeks will determine where they ultimately fall in the Top 25.
Voters in the Nike/US Lacrosse Top 25 polls include Lacrosse Magazine writers, who determine the regional report rankings, and US Lacrosse area representives in the field.
