WOMEN
Blue Jays "Stick it to Sarcoma" Play Day, Johns Hopkins
in Baltimore, 9 a.m.
Rachel Ballatori, a 2012 Johns Hopkins graduate and two-time
captain of the women's lacrosse team, created the "Stick it to
Sarcoma" fall play day in 2011 in honor of her father, Ned
Ballatori, who was then fighting cardiac angiosarcoma, an extremely
rare and rapidly malignant soft-tissue cancer. He died on Dec. 25
of last year after a yearlong battle.
Last year's tournament raised more than $15,000 for the Hopkins Sarcoma Program and this year Ballatori has sought to raise at least $20,000 for the program again to fund research projects.
Saturday's play day will feature raffles, a silent auction, including Baltimore Ravens and Orioles packages, among other items, and there will be more opportunities to donate to the cause. All proceeds will benefit the Hopkins Sarcoma Program.
