Nike/LM WCLA Division II Preseason Top 20

by Lacrosse Magazine Staff | LaxMagazine.com | Twitter

With defending national champion Duke moving to Division I this season, Loyola Maryland becomes the favorite in the Mid Atlantic Women's Lacrosse League and a strong contender to claim its first national championship. Following back-to-back appearances in the national semifinals in 2014 and 2015, the Greyhounds appear ready for a title breakthrough and begin the season as the top-ranked team in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Preseason Top 20.

Dayton is ranked No. 2 and is another serious championship contender after winning the Women's Collegiate Lacrosse League last year and closing the season with a 12-game winning streak. The Flyers lost just one game in 2015, falling to eventual D1 national champion Michigan. Oakland, which lost to Dayton twice last year, including in the WCLL championship game, had a third place finish at the national championships and begins 2016 at No. 3 in the poll.

No. 4 Denver may be the frontrunner in the Rocky Mountain Women's Lacrosse League this spring as Air Force moves to Division I and Utah faces some rebuilding. Concordia, which made its national tournament debut last spring, begins the season ranked fifth.
