Live Video: Fairfield Women Visit Holy Cross

from LaxMagazine.com Staff Reports | Twitter

Both Fairfield and Holy Cross are searching for their first wins of the young women's lacrosse season. And both have come extremely close already to notching their first victories. Live video will be provided at game time by the Patriot League Network, powered by Campus Insiders

Fairfield has lost its first two games, each by a goal to Hofstra, 8-7, and Rutgers, 6-5. Holy Cross has dropped its first three, to Bryant, UMass and Yale, by a combined nine goals, and played the Bulldogs to a 10-8 decision last time out on Saturday.

History would indicate Fairfield has the edge in this one. The Stags are 4-1 in the last five meetings with Holy Cross. The lone loss was in 2010, when Fairfield fell in a 14-12 overtime game.

Melanie Raso leads the Stags with three goals so far this season, Jamie Leone has two goals and two assists and Colleen Reynolds has chipped in two goals. Goalie Chelsey Sidaras had a 7.01 goals against average with a 50 percent save percentage and Courtney Chmil is the early draw control leader with four, although eight players have at least one through just two games.

Holy Cross returns standouts Laura Ryan and Sara Hennessey. Last season, Ryan scored 36 goals with seven assists while Hennessey tallied 35 goals with six assists. Each has six goals apiece entering this game.

Game time is 4 p.m. ET in Worcester, Mass.
