No. 15 St. John Fisher Uses Late Run to Repel Redlands

Redlands, Calif- St. John Fisher used a 10-2 run over the final 47 minutes to rally and defeat host University of Redlands, 12-7, on Saturday at Redland's Farquhar Field.

With the win, Fisher, ranked 15th nationally improves to 3-0, while the No. 25 Lady Bulldogs, fall to 7-3.

Senior All-American Melissa Leonhard led Fisher on the day with four goals and 11 draw controls. Emily Bryerton scored a career-high four goals as well, while Taylor Hughes (two goals, two assists) and Erin Ward (one goal, three assists) each finished with four points.

Bridget Alberts also scored in the win. Molly Naylon earned the win in goal. The senior played the final 47 minutes of the game and made three saves, while allowing just two goals.

Redlands led 6-5 at the half. Fisher jumped out to a 1-0 three minutes into the game, as Hughes passed to a wide-open Leonhard for the game's opening goal.  

Redlands, however, scored five of the next six goals to take a 5-2 just 12:28 into the game. Fisher battled back to the game at 5s with goals from Bryerton, Hughes and Leonhard.

The second half belonged to Fisher.   The Cardinals scored the first four of the half to make it 9-6. Hughes tied the game up at 6-6 early in the second half and Leonhard put her team up for good with 16:05 left.
 
The Lady Bulldogs pulled back to within two goals with 6:32 left, but just over 20 seconds later, Bryerton scored on a free position shot to make it a three-goal game.

Fisher finished the game with a 25-12 advantage in shots and held a 15-6 edge in draws. 

Fisher will return to action at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday and will host SUNY Geneseo.
