Cabrini Ends Centenary's Undefeated Run
from press release
HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Cabrini women's lacrosse
team is now just one of two teams in the Colonial States Athletic
Conference (CSAC) with an unblemished record in league play
following a 15-10 win at previously unbeaten Centenary College on
Wednesday afternoon. Senior attack Erin Nollen (West Chester,
Pa./Henderson HS) scored the 200th goal of her Cavalier career in
the victory.
Nollen eclipsed the 200-goal plateau for her career in the win,
recording five points with three goals and two assists. She has
totaled 261 career points at Cabrini on 202 goals and 59
assists.
Senior attack Amanda Alexandrowicz (Ridley, Pa./Ridley HS) led the
Cavaliers' attack, matching a career best with nine points on six
goals and three assists. Alexandrowicz also tallied nine points in
Cabrini's 13-12 win at the University of Scranton earlier this year
on March 11.
Senior attack Danielle Rothermel (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's
HS) posted three points with two goals and one assist. Freshman
attack Christina Pasquariello (Gladwyne, Pa./Harriton HS) added two
points with two goals.
Senior goalkeeper Kate Schmid (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's HS)
played all 60 minutes in the cage for the Cavaliers, notching 17
saves en route to the victory. Schmid has recorded at least 17
saves in a game three times this season.
Schmid also led the Blue & White with four groundballs. Senior
midfielder Lynda Kaufmann (Boothwyn, Pa./Chichester HS) and
freshman defender Jenna DiNardo (Newark, Del./Archmere Academy)
each secured two draw controls.
Behind three scores from Alexandrowicz, Cabrini owned a comfortable
six-goal advantage, 9-3, at the intermission. Nollen reached the
scoring milestone with her first goal of the game at the 16:48 mark
of the opening half.
Alexandrowicz netted three straight goals for the Cavaliers in the
period, the last of which was assisted by Nollen. Alexandrowicz is
also now on the doorstep of scoring her 200th career goal, needing
11 after today's performance.
After Nollen opened the second half with her second goal of the
contest and 201st of her career, the Cyclones ran off three
unanswered tallies, trimming their deficit to 10-6 with 23:58
remaining.
Nollen stymied the spurt less than two minutes following and
sparked a 4-2 run for the Cavaliers with her third and final goal
of the contest at the 22:07 mark. Alexandrowicz chipped in three
more goals over the next eight minutes, supplying the Cavaliers
with a 14-8 cushion with 12:29 remaining.
Rothermel found the back of the cage for the game's final goal at
the 3:22 mark.
Megan Mars led the Centenary offense with five points on three
goals and two assists. Kiti Ovaskainen (3G) and Danielle Bay (2G,
1A) each notched three points.
The Cyclones began the day one of three unbeaten teams in the CSAC,
along with the Cavaliers. Today's loss was also Centenary first of
the season overall.
Cabrini (7-5, 6-0) returns home versus CSAC opponent Gwynedd-Mercy
College on Saturday, April 17. Game time versus the Griffins is set
for 1 p.m.
