Morrisville State's Velazquez Earns NAC Nod

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Morrisville State College
senior midfielder Carmen Velazquez (Syracuse, NY/Fowler) has been
named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) West Division women's
lacrosse student-athlete of the week for the week ending March
28.
Velazquez netted 12 goals on 19 shots on goal, recorded an assist,
and tallied 14 individual ground balls for the Mustangs in a 1-2
week. In the 11-10 loss to Division II Fort Lewis, Velazquez netted
a team high five goals and followed with a six goal, one assist
performance over Medaille College, as the Mustangs remained
undefeated in conference action.
Velazquez currently leads the team in scoring with 19 goals and
three assists, and leads the team in draw controls with 16.
The senior captain is a 2006 graduate of Fowler High School and is
majoring in liberal arts at Morrisville State College. She is the
daughter of Carmen Hernandez of Syracuse, New York.
Beginning with the 2010 season, North Eastern Athletic Conference
(NEAC) members Cazenovia, College of St. Elizabeth, Keuka,
Medaille, Penn State – Abington, Morrisville State, Wells and
Wilson will play as associate members of the North Atlantic
Conference (NAC) in a West Division. Each division will hold a
championship and the two divisional champions will meet to
determine the conference champion.
