Gettysburg's Stahl Earns CC Defensive Nod

LANCASTER, Pa. – Senior Hollis Stahl (Hightstown,
N.J./Peddie School) posted her usual team-leading offensive effort
last week for the Gettysburg College women's lacrosse team, but her
defensive play was even better and led to her second career
Defensive Player of the Week award from the Centennial Conference
on Monday, March 29.
Stahl covered every bit of turf on Clark Field in a pair of games
last week against No. 10 Middlebury College and Swarthmore College.
She posted a team-leading seven goals and also paved the way with
six ground balls, five draw controls, and nine caused turnovers. In
a 10-8 loss to Middlebury, she posted three ground balls and caused
four turnovers and nearly led the Bullets to a comeback win. She
closed the week with four goals, three ground balls, four draw
controls, and five caused turnovers as Gettysburg shut out
Swarthmore 17-0.
Stahl was named CC Player of the Week for the fifth time in her
career. She was named Offensive Player of the Week twice in 2009
and once in 2008, while also picking up the defensive honor in
2008.
The Bullet junior leads Gettysburg with 29 goals, 24 ground balls,
and 22 draw controls and she ranks second on the team with 14
caused turnovers. In addition to her defensive exploits last week,
she also moved into ninth on the school's career scoring list with
182 points.
Stahl and the Bullets face off with a pair of non-conference foes
this week, beginning with a road trip to Cabrini College on
Wednesday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m. Gettysburg closed the week with
top-10 battle at The College of New Jersey on Saturday, April 3, at
1 p.m.
