Bowdoin's Stewart Earns NESCAC Honor
from press release
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Bowdoin College women's lacrosse player
Katie Stewart (Chevy Chase, Md.) has been honored as the New
England Small College Athletic Conference Co-Player of the Week.
Stewart, a sophomore midfielder, helped the Polar Bears snap a
three-game losing streak with two impressive home victories.
On Tuesday, in a 16-7 win over Wheaton, Stewart sparked a key 11-0
run by scoring three goals - all during the decisive spurt - while
grabbing eight draw controls and causing two turnovers. She
followed it up with three more goals and an assist in a key 11-3
league win against Amherst on Saturday in addition to three caused
turnovers.
Stewart leads all Polar Bears with 15 points this season, including
11 goals and four assists. Her 17 draw controls are second among
NESCAC players while her 10 caused turnovers stand sixth in the
league. She shares NESCAC Player of the Week honors with
Middlebury's Margaret Souther.
Bowdoin will return to action on Wednesday when they play the
University of Southern Maine at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland.
