Salisbury Women Rout Hood, Win Second Straight

SALISBURY, Md. - The No. 2 Salisbury University
women's lacrosse team rolled to a 21-1 victory at Sea Gull Stadium
Sunday afternoon, taking down Capital Athletic Conference foe Hood
College.
The Sea Gulls (2-0, 1-0 CAC), who shut out the Blazers last season, 21-0, came out on fire, ripping off eight goals in the first eight and a half minutes, to blow the game open. Senior attacker Beth Rhodey (Fallston, Md.) scored three goals in the opening burst, while junior attacker Trish DiGirolomo (Davidsonville, Md.) added a pair of assists in the opening-game rush.
Rhodey finished with a game-high four points after adding an assist in the second half.
Salisbury also got two goals apiece from sophomore midfielder
Carrie Bray (Rockville, Md.), senior midfielder Jessica Chmielewski
(Woodbine, Md.), freshman midfielder Roxanne Raab (Fallston, Md.),
freshman attacker Maggie Roundy (Ijamsville, Md.) and sophomore
midfielder Allie Wheatley (Cambridge, Md.). Senior attacker Kim
Cudmore (Bel Air, Md.) finished with a team-high three assists in
the victory. Senior defender Jess Glazer (Ellicott City, Md.)
recorded her first collegiate point on Sunday, as she scored a goal
to start the second half.
Freshmen Keli Berkman (Salisbury, Md.) and Ali Meeks (Pasadena,
Md.) each spent a half in the cage. Berkman needed to make just one
save in the first half, while Meeks saw just two shots in the
second half.
Hood (0-1, 0-1 CAC) scored its only goal with 18 minutes left in the game, off the stick of Caitlin Lawrence.
Salisbury will be back in action on Wednesday, when the Sea Gulls host No. 19 Washington & Lee University at Sea Gull Stadium. The game is slated to begin at 4 p.m.
