TCNJ Cruises in First Game with Top Rank
from press releases
WAYNE, Pa. - Coming off of its biggest win of the
season, The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team avoided a
letdown against Eastern University as the Lions rolled to an 18-5
victory over the host Eagles on Tuesday.
Prior to the win, the Lions (10-0) moved into the top spot in the
latest IWLCA Division III. Tuesday's win sets up TCNJ's next big
test as the Lions head to Salisbury University for a showdown with
the Sea Gulls on Saturday. Salisbury started the week ranked first,
but switched places with the Lions when the new poll was released
with only two votes separating the two institutions.
With the loss, Eastern is now an even 5-5 on the year.
Sophomore Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) led a
balanced Lion attack with four goals, while Rachel Gordon (Cherry
Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) and Lisa Seldeen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne
Valley) each finished with three goals and one assist. Robin Deehan
(Morris Plains, NJ/Academy of St. Elizabeth) chipped in with a
four-point effort scoring twice and setting up two goals.
Sophomore Mary Waller (Bel Air, MD/C. Milton Wright) garnered the
win with four saves.
