No. 2 Hamilton Rallies Past No. 14 Cortland

CLINTON, N.Y. - Hamilton College came from behind twice and Sarah Bray '11 scored the game-winner late in the second period, as the nationally ranked No. 2 Continentals picked up a thrilling 12-11 non-league win over visiting No. 14 SUNY Cortland at Campus Road Athletic Field on March 24.
Hamilton improves to 4-1 with the win and Cortland falls to 2-3.
Bray scored with 6:05 left in the game to tie the score at 11-11 and notched the game-winner at 4:19. Both goals were unassisted. Bray finished with three goals and two assists and is second on the team with 12 goals this season.
In a game dictated by momentum, Cortland sprinted out to a 3-1 lead after 7:38 of action, and a 5-2 lead 13:35 into the game. Hamilton stole the energy back when Anne Graveley '11 pounded in a free position shot with 7:54 to go in the first.
Her goal sparked a two-minute, six-goal outburst including her second goal of the game just 30 seconds later. Kriti Dave '11 was next, finding the back of the net at 6:33. Liz Rave '10 took over ten seconds later for her first of two consecutive goals. Her second came 18 seconds after the first.
The Red Dragons finally halted the furious rally with a goal at 5:32. Dave closed out the first half with a goal with 19 seconds remaining for a 9-6 halftime advantage.
Cortland took control of the game mid-way through the second period, piling on four goals in 93 seconds, starting with one at 18:54. The Red Dragons mounted a 10-9 lead with the spurt. The two teams exchanged goals for an 11-10 Cortland advantage with 10:54 to go, before Bray took over for the win.
Kate Fowler '10 made five stops in goal for the winners. Dave and Graveley finished with two goals and an assist apiece. Rave and Jones each notched two scores, while Hilary Saverin '10 scored one goal and helped set up a second. Rave and Liz Benjamin '09 each added four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
