Top-ranked Hamilton Dismisses Utica

UTICA, N.Y. - Hamilton College scored five goals
in the last seven minutes of the first half and went on to a 17-9
non-league win at nearby Utica College on March 13.
Kaillie Briscoe '09 led all scorers with five goals, and added one
assist. Anne Graveley '11 added four goals, an assist, and three
draw controls. Sarah Bray '11 tallied three goals, along with a
team high six ground balls and five draw controls.
Hamilton improves to 2-0 on the season with the win.
Utica (2-2) struck first and took an early 1-0 lead 3:55 into the
game. Liz Rave '10 scored less than two minutes later on a free
position to even the score. Briscoe scored the next two goals, both
on free positions, to open up a 3-1 lead for the Continentals. Bray
added a fourth tally for the visitors with 12:34 to go in the
frame.
The Pioneers sliced their deficit to 4-2 at 7:58, but Hamilton
reeled off five goals to take a 9-2 lead with 2:50 until halftime.
Utica punched in a goal with 1:31 to go for a 9-3 halftime
score.
Hamilton outscored Utica, 8-6 in the second frame for the win.
Hilary Saverin '10 added two goals. Josie Jones '12 and Kriti Dave
'11 tallied one apiece.
Kate Fowler made one save in her 40 minutes of action before Sam
Elie took over to make two stops in the final 20 minutes of the
game.
Hamilton will travel to San Antonio, Texas for two games during
Spring Break. The Continentals will face nationally-ranked No. 2
Salisbury University on Wednesday, March 18 at Trinity University.
