from staff reports

EWING, N.J. - The College of New Jersey women's lacrosse team withstood a late challenge by visiting FDU-Florham on Tuesday as the Lions scored the game's final four goals to secure a 17-10 win over the Devils in their season opener.

The Lions (1-0), ranked fourth in the latest ICWLA Division III poll, saw FDU-Florham (1-2) take a six-goal deficit and quickly cut it in half before TCNJ called a timeout with 8:35 remaining. At that time, the Lions clung to a 13-10 lead after Devil senior Amanda Wayne (Bellport, NY/Bellport) netted a pair of quick goals.

Senior Katie Reuther (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) netted the first of those with junior Lisa Seldeen (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley) getting the other. The hosts tacked on two more goals in the final two minutes to seal the win with sophomore Alison Jaeger (Hampton, NJ/North Hunterdon) and senior Rachel Gordon (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) accounting for those scores.
