D-III Buffalo State Takes Down D-I Niagara

BUFFALO, N.Y. - Freshman Karen Shaddock
(Corning/Corning East) had two goals and a school record six
assists to lift host Buffalo State (2-1) over Division I Niagara
University (2-2), 13-12, in a non-conference contest today at Coyer
Field.
Katie Henderson (Hamburg/Frontier) netted a team-high five goals
for the Bengals. Molly Seifritz (Liverpool/Henninger) added three
goals, and Kendyl Clarkson (Painted Post/Corning West), Stephanie
Georgopoulos (Pt. Jefferson Station/Comsewogue) and Liz Eddy
(Albany/Colonie) all had single markers.
Erralyn Thomas (Ducan, BC/Cowichan) led the Purple Eagles with five
goals. Vanessa Schultz (Clarence/Clarence) had two goals and an
assist, and Courtney Formato (Lancaster/Lancaster) and Nicole Karek
(Lakeview/Frontier) had a goal and an assist each. Rianne Farrugia
(Elbridge/Jordan-Elbridge), Leigh Downing (Auburn/Auburn) and Emily
French (Tully/Tully) also scored.
Buffalo State's Ashley O'Brien (Honeoye Falls/Honeoye Falls-Lima)
had five saves, and Whitney Gill (Canandaigua/Canandaigua) had 10
stops for Niagara. Buffalo State outshot Niagara, 29-23.
Buffalo State led 7-4 in the first half, but Niagara netted five
straight goals to take a 9-7 lead just over nine minutes into the
second frame. The Bengals knotted the score at 10-10 midway through
the final period. After trading goals down the stretch, Eddy
connected on a pass from Shaddock to score the game-winner with
1:41 remaining.
