Carrier Sets NCAA Consecutive Goals Record
from staff reports
St. Mary's senior midfielder Lauren Carrier (Crownsville, Md./Old
Mill) set the NCAA Division III women's lacrosse record for
consecutive games with at least one goal Thursday night as the
Seahawks notched a 17-10 non-conference victory over
Washington (Md.) College at Lawrence E. Knight Stadium on the
grounds of Broadneck High School.
The new NCAA mark is 46 consecutive games with at least one goal as
Carrier surpassed the old mark of 45 set by Liz Baumbach of the
University of Scranton from March 28, 2001 to May 10, 2003.
Carrier started the streak as a freshman on April 15, 2006 with one
goal and one assist in a 10-9 loss to the University of Mary
Washington.
The contest's ninth goal gave Carrier the NCAA record as she took a
feed from Branch at 5:28 to give the Seahawks a 6-3 halftime
lead.
In 58 career games, Carrier has 193 goals, 51 assists for 244
points. She has moved into fourth place on the CAC career
goals list and is closing in on the CAC career points list (Mary
Washington's Bridget Geiman is currently sixth in career points
with 269). Carrier is a three-time All-CAC player (2x first
team and second team in 2006) and 2008 All-American.
Carrier is also a two-time first team All-CAC selection in women's
soccer, including 2008 CAC Player of the Year.
