It took just five years for Florida Southern to reach the summit of Division II women's lacrosse.

The Mocs dethroned two-time reigning national champion Adelphi in the NCAA championship game May 21 in Denver with an 8-7 victory to become the first team outside of New York, Pennsylvania or Massachusetts to claim the walnut and bronze trophy in the 16-year history of Division II.

Accordingly, Florida Southern finishes the season as the No. 1 team in the Nike/Lacrosse Magazine Division II Women's Top 15, supplanting the Panthers in the final ranking of 2016.
