Farrell's Seven Points Propel No. 4 Limestone

DUE WEST, S.C. – An unending offensive assault of the net helped lead Limestone (3-0, 1-0 CC) to a 20-8 victory over Erskine (2-2, 0-2) in an NCAA Division II women's lacrosse game on Wednesday, February 26. The game also served as the Saints Conference Carolinas opener.
Senior attack Katie Farrell (Brooks, Ga.) continued her tremendous start to the 2014 season as she drilled a game-high five goals and notched a pair of assists for seven points while junior midfielder Sam McCarrick(Oswego, N.Y.) rifled in four scores of her own.
They were joined by junior attack Keirsten MacLellan(Glyndon, Md.) with three goals and an assist and sophomore attack Carleigh Davis (Eldersburg, Md.) with a pair of scores and three assists. Senior attacks Kacie Harris (Stanley, N.Y.) and Sarah Oor (Uxbridge, Canada) each had two goals and sophomore midfielder Taylor Cline (Hagerstown, Md.) had a goal and an assist.
Freshman midfielder Kathleen Gasset (Cincinnati, Ohio) rounded out the scoring with a solo goal and senior defender Samantha Cock (Terra Cotta, Ontario, Canada) had an assist and five draw controls. Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Teeter (Auburn, N.Y.) allowed six goals and made eight saves to pick up the win and move to 3-0 on the young season.
The Saints jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead before facing some resistance as Erskine notched back-to-back goals to cut it to a one goal margin by the 25:41 mark. From there on in, however, it would be all Limestone as they showed why they are the No. 3 team in the country with 10 straight goals as part of a 13-1 run that left them with a commanding 16-3 lead. Trailing 19-4 with 13:17 to play, the Flying Fleet notched three straight goals to cut it to 19-7 before the Saints closed out the 12 goal victory.
Kelly Dalziel led Erskine with three goals while Ali Cole had a pair of scores and four assists. They were joined by Cory Hunteman with two scores and Samantha Burns added a solo score. Konstandena Brown played all 60 minutes in goal, allowing 20 goals and making four saves to take the loss.
Limestone is back in action on Saturday, March 1 when they host Conference Carolinas foe Mount Olive in their home opener. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at the Upper Practice Field.
Limestone is now 7-0 all-time against Erskine dating to the first meeting on March 3, 2009 ... the Flying Fleets' eight goals equals their total in the previous six meetings ... their previous high against the Saints was five (19-5) in last year's meeting on February 21 at Saints Field.
