Regis (Colo.) Upsets No. 14 Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, N.C. - In a match that had neither team leading by more than two points, AriAnna McDonald scored the final goal of the game with just 55 seconds left in the game to give the Rangers a 17-16 upset victory at #14 Pfeiffer.
Regis (2-3) led 4-2 and 7-5 in the first half before Pfeiffer (3-2) scored the last three goals of the first half and the first of the second half to take a 9-7 lead. The Rangers Danica Custhall and Emily Behr scored two goals apiece during a 10 minute period in which Regis scored five of the six goals scored to take a 13-11 lead with 12:18 remaining.
Pfeiffer then scored three goals in a row to take a 14-13 lead with just 7:03 left in the game. Cutshall and senior Erin Dybus each scored a goal to propel Regis to a 15-14 lead with 3:53 remaining.
Kristi Korn then scored for Pfeiffer to tie the game at 15 with 2:50 remaining. McDonald then scored one of her two late second half goals to put Regis back in the lead with 1:29 to go on the clock.
21 second later, Liz Melesh of Pfeiffer knotted the score once again before McDonald's heroics. McDonald got a pass from Cutshall and scored on Pfeiffer goalkeeper Jamie Alcala with just 55 seconds remaining to put the Rangers up for good 17-16.
Behr and Cutshall each scored four goals in the game, while McDonald put in three goals. Hilary Duda and Dybus each tallied two goals, while Cutshall assisted on two of the goals.
McDonald gathered in six ground balls, while Behr and sophomore Jessika Carlstrom had four apiece.
Cutshall set a new Regis single-game draw control record by grabbing 12, the previous mark was held by Kesli Goings with 10.
Regis will open up their home portion of the schedule by hosting WILA opponent Adams State on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
