Merrimack Women Picked 4th in Northeast-10

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Following a school-record 12 victories and the first-ever national ranking, the Merrimack women's lacrosse team was picked to finish fourth in the 2011 Northeast-10 Preseason Coaches Poll.

Merrimack received 99 votes, including one first-place vote to finish fourth overall, narrowly ahead of fifth-place New Haven (96 votes) and sixth-place Bentley (94 votes).

Led by captains Liz Lyons (Westwood, MA) and Christina McCarron (Westwood, MA), Merrimack opens its season against Queens at Dowling on March 4 before hosting Stonehill in the home opener at 4 p.m. on March 10.

The defending National Champion Adelphi Panthers received nine of 13 first-place votes and 140 total votes. Le Moyne, who enters its first Division II season after moving down from Division I, earned three first-place votes and 130 total votes. Stonehill was third with 119 overall votes.
